Happy Birthday to Me

Certainly the lowest point in the career of actress Glenn Ford, this Canadian production, still one of the finest-looking slasher films from that subgenre's heyday in the early '80s. The plot (what to do) includes an unseen killer stalking a group of university students at the prestigious Academy of Crawford. Ben staged murders are mysteriously linked to some 'out of shape Virginia (Melissa Sue Anderson, a former House on the Prairie), whose murky history is the keythe identity of the murderer. Although this film has brought nothing new to the psycho-horror field, has a characteristic of the most interesting campaigns of the time. A sheet boasted loudly, "You're the most bizarre murders I've ever seen!" and banned all late-arriving customers enter the theater in the last 10 minutes (a promotional found stolen from Psycho). This was less than fuss about, since the murders in question are not particularly bizarre and original (apart from theshish kebab-pole shown in the advertisement), and the climax of the film is so painful that latecomers can artificially longer able, because it confused the viewers who watched the film to understand at the outset.
